Tuolumne County Commission on Aging Post "Jots and Thoughts" / Senior Expo And Calendar 2011

Welcome to the Tuolumne County Commission on Aging blog: it’s our ongoing effort that we hope will bring information to help and inform seniors in our county.

The commissioners, with their extensive and varied experience and expertise, are all volunteers and without exception are primarily concerned with doing whatever they can to improve the lives of our county’s seniors in and around the Motherlode.

Marge Depew gets married...

On May 7, 2011, in front of a slew of friends and family (especially family!), Commissioner Marge Depew was married to Gary Warner, and thereby became Marge Warner.  Sonora’s St. Patrick's Church was the locale.  The bride was resplendent in ivory and was given away by her oldest son Jim.  The groom was tall and handsome.  Dick Southern was best man.
Father Kraft presided and used an unusual but crowd-pleasing technique of turning the bride and groom around to face the throng of well-wishers.  After the ceremony, the wedding party proceeded on to Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Tuolumne for the reception, and a rollicking good time was had by all.  Congratulations Marge!

From Cathie Peacock: Full swing preparation for fire season
Residents of Tuolumne County should be in full swing preparation for fire season.  Besides yard clearance, another aspect always to check is the smoke detectors/alarms.  If seniors need smoke detectors or smoke alarms checked, batteries replaced or in need of detectors or alarms, please contact (retired Sonora Fire Chief Mike Mandell at 586-1180.  He will call you back to determine a best plan to fit your needs, and make necessary checks and installments (free).  In addition, if anyone would like to donate to this program, he can give you the proper information.
